Recovering the Two Spirit memory

Winkte, Qariwarmi and Weye used to be the names used by indigenous in Abya Yala (America) to call the Two Spirit or Queer members of their tribe before colonization, who held a place of respect amongst their peers.

In this workshop we’ll do a circle to share some of the knowledge that has been recovered about what it used to mean to be a Two Spirit, then we’ll continue with a ritual that includes the calling of the 7 directions, invoking our queer ancestors, smudging, singing and conscious movements to remember and recognize ourselves as queer indigenous from diverse territories who deserves love and respect.
