Studio 2

In this talk, I will present the main results of my undergraduate research in Chile, highlighting the life experiences of older homosexuals (ages 60 to 88), especially in the practices of resistance that they developed throughout their lives and that they put into play in their old age. Discriminations such as the mandate of masculinity, or homophobia, and even the hegemonic masculinity of bodies produce knowledge that will be explored in this space for discussion. The workshop aims to generate a safe space for discussion based on the results of this research.

I'm a 29 years old, social anthropologist focused on queer ageing as a research topic. I conducted a two-year research on the topic in Chile, connecting with gays and lesbians through their process of becoming older, and dealing with those feelings. Intergenerational knowledge is key! I invite people to the workshop with curiosity, open minds, and the willingness to change what seems to be written in stone.
