This workshop offers a playful, sweat-inducing space where movement becomes both celebration and exploration. Blending Latin American Dances with contemporary dance and somatic cues, we’ll move through joy, resistance, and release. Rooted in Afro-Latin rhythms, this session welcomes queer bodies of all backgrounds and experiences, inviting us to reclaim dance as a site of liberation and connection. No prior experience needed — just curiosity, sweat, and a willingness to groove.

Juan Urbina
I’m a queer Venezuelan dancer, choreographer, and educator based in Germany. My work bridges South American heritage, contemporary movement, and social engagement. I hold an MA in Contemporary Dance Education and have led community dance projects across Europe and Latin America, including workshops for LGBTQ+ youth, people experiencing homelessness, and multigenerational groups. Dance for me is not just art — it’s activism, care, and connection. As someone who has navigated migration, queerness, and cultural hybridity, I use movement to hold space for stories that often go untold. I’ve participated in residencies and festivals like Ponderosa’s POP program and Tanzkongress, and I’m always seeking new ways to move and be moved — especially in queer, healing-centered spaces.
