This workshop invites us to reclaim our rightful place in history, from reimagining fairy tales through a queer lens to uncovering family lore and ReQueering pivotal events. Why have we been erased? Censorship, neglect, or oversight? It’s time to rewrite the narrative! We’ll queerify folklore, uncover LGBTQ+ lives in history, and celebrate our present stories. Together, we’ll ensure the queer community is seen, heard, and remembered. If not us, then who?
Joseph Kearney
Hi, I’m Joseph, Irish, queer, and sober! A storyteller dedicated to building community and reclaiming LGBTQ+ narratives. Passionate about putting queers back in the history books, I co-run two queer story nights in Amsterdam: Brave Space and LGBTQ Stories at Mezrab. Beyond storytelling, I lead queer history tours and deliver engaging online lectures on queer culture. Whether through tales, tours, or teaching, my mission is to celebrate and preserve the rich tapestry of queer history.
